The General Ledger trial balance is a listing of all accounts in your General Ledger master file. The trial balance will show the account name, the beginning balance, the current period transactions, and the ending balance for each General Ledger account. This trial balance is a replacement for the "General Ledger" on a hand posted set of books.

The trial balance can be run any time you deem necessary during the month, but you should always run the trail balance at month end after all transactions have been processed. Please note that the trial balance is your "General Ledger" and it should reflect all activity that has transpired. If you fail to run a trial balance at month-end, you will never have a complete audit trail of all activity in your General Ledger.

In the account coding structure you have the ability to enter a cost center. If you are using this feature you have the ability to get a trial balance on just one cost center. If you indicated the cost center was not applicable to you, or if you are using automatic processing, the above question will not be asked and all accounts will be printed.
