Description
Operating system error 4: the maximum number of files allowed by the operating system is already open.
Common causes
1. Too many files or programs open at once on this computer or server.
2. On a network, the server's limit on open files has been reached.
Common solutions
1. Close other programs and any extra ACS sessions, then try again.
2. Restart the computer. If ACS runs from a server, have the server checked or restarted.
3. If the error keeps happening, call ACS.
Notes
Older help for this error referred to CONFIG.SYS and SYSTEM.INI settings. Those applied only to DOS and early versions of Windows and do not apply to current Windows.
