Rebuild the Current Balance in General Ledger accounts from recorded transactions. Use this recovery option only after identifying why the account balances need reconstruction.
Using this option
- Back up the company and retain a trial balance for comparison.
- Normally leave Process History Transactions unchecked. In that mode, the program adds current transaction activity to each account's Beginning Balance.
- If history must be included, select Process History Transactions and enter the intended Starting Date and Ending Date. Review the Last Retained Earnings Account, or the corresponding account for each fund, before continuing.
- Continue to recalculate the accounts, then compare a new trial balance and the affected accounts with the original reports.
Notes
History mode changes the calculation basis: retained-earnings accounts use the last prior-year period balance, while other accounts start from zero; selected history and current activity are then added. The older explanatory text on the screen about the base balance does not fully describe this behavior.
This option overwrites Current Balance values for the company; it is not a preview. It cannot recreate missing transactions. Use ACS assistance if the history range or retained-earnings setup is uncertain.
