Compare customer balances and transaction amounts with their service breakdowns. The utility can report differences, repair the Other allocation, or move/apply service credits.
Using this option
- For an initial review, select Scan Customer Balance Breakdowns and/or Scan Transaction Breakdowns, with Report Erroneous Transactions checked. Leave all repair and credit-moving options unchecked.
- Continue and review the discrepancy report. It compares the stored balance or amount with the calculated sum of the service breakdowns.
- If a repair is appropriate, back up the company first. Rerun with Fix Erroneous Transactions selected for the scans you intend to repair.
- Use Move Credit Balnces to Other and and apply credits only when that allocation change is intended. Review the accounts afterward and run a report-only scan again.
Notes
Repair assumes the stored customer balance or transaction amount is correct and places the difference into Other. It does not determine whether the original total was correct.
Moving credit balances transfers negative service allocations to Other. Applying credits uses available credit in Other against positive service balances. These options alter allocations and are separate from the scan/repair checkboxes.
Do not use automatic repair to conceal an unexplained discrepancy. If the underlying amount is wrong, investigate the transactions first.
