Maintain meter-type settings used by supported hand-held or meter-reading interfaces. The fields describe the meter and the format needed by the selected device.
Using this option
- Choose Hand Held > Meter Type. The program may explain that a meter-type file is not necessary for the currently selected device.
- Add a code or select an existing type to edit. Enter its description and the device-specific settings, then save.
- Use the appropriate code in the customer/meter setup and review a test export with the meter-reading interface before changing types in bulk.
Fields and options

| Reading multiplier / Number of Dials | The multiplier and dial count required for that meter type. |
| Read Type / Device Type | The interface's read-type code and device selection. |
| Meter Size / Unit of Measure | Size and unit identifiers required by the device or import layout. |
Notes
Codes and multipliers depend on the meter-reading interface. Use values confirmed for your device instead of copying settings from another device type.
Changing a type does not itself import readings or calculate customer bills.
